In these uncertain times, it is good to remind one another that Jesus is our hope and the anchor of our souls.
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf… (Hebrews 6:19-20)”.
“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4)”.
We continue to look to Him while also reaching out to the lost sheep around us. With this in mind, the elders have prayerfully worked through steps we can take as the New Community Church family to continue to live gospel-centered lives in this sin-cursed world. As many of you know, Governor DeWine has banned all mass gatherings of 100+ people. While religious gatherings are excluded, we want to do our best to make sure that we are serving those around us by limiting the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Experts have shared that social distancing is the most effective method to limit virus spread. With these things in mind, we will be making changes to our Sunday Gatherings and other ministry events.
New Community will not gather at the Xenia Community Center on Sundays as a corporate Gathering of house churches, possibly up to three weeks or until it seems wise to return to our normal Gathering. Instead, we encourage house churches to devote themselves together for teaching, fellowship, prayer and the breaking of bread (Acts 2:42). We will be posting a recording of the sermon online for our house churches to be able to use as needed. Over the next few weeks, we will work on providing live streaming and or other online options for gathering. For those not in a house Church or would like to join the broader family in fellowship and prayer, we will have a prayer fellowship gathering at the New Community modulars at 10 am as needed during this season. Many of our families desire to keep their children home during this time and many of our coordinators and ministry workers are unable to serve as planned. Because of this, there will be no children’s ministry during this gathering.
For all other ministry events please consult with your ministry leaders for specific instructions or cancelations.
