Willing to Serve
By Joshua Michael
Serving at New Community is an opportunity open to everyone. Two teens from the Branches House Church, Aidan Nosker and Sam Michael, have been serving on the Sound and Media Teams on Sunday mornings. We posed some questions to them to learn more about how they are serving at New Community and why.
1) What is your role serving at NCC?
Aidan: I am the sound tech for the band
Sam: I serve on the Media Team
2) Why did you decide to get involved in serving at NCC?
Aidan: I was intrigued by the soundboard and I have had a gift with tech for years so I wanted to contribute to help the congregation worship.
Sam: I wanted to start doing my part in helping the church and serving.
3) How have you grown or learned through serving?
Aidan: I have learned how much there is that goes on behind the scenes each Sunday. You don't always realize it, but there is so much that is vital to the function of the service.
Sam: I have started to learn that there are a lot of pieces that help make the Sunday service run.
4) What would you say to someone who isn't sure they want to get involved in serving at NCC?
Aidan: I would say, find something you're good at and/or enjoy doing and plug in that way. I had never done sound before but I talked to the previous sound tech and he explained it to me. A couple weeks later I shadowed him and I was hooked. Just find something you enjoy doing and talk to the people currently doing it and see if they need more people.
Sam: I would say that it is a great way to honor God and help the church. It is also a way to meet new people as you work together with others.
